Piecing Together Light in a Broken World

Piecing Together Light in a Broken World

I believe that every one of us carries an inner light that can never truly be broken.

Life, however, has a way of leaving us feeling fragmented.

A loss.

A transition.

Burnout.

A diagnosis.

The end of a relationship.

A dream quietly waiting beneath years of responsibility.

Sometimes we forget who we are beneath the weight of everything we've carried.

Tierra Azul Designs was born from the belief that our light never disappears—it simply waits to be remembered.

Through art, breath, horses, storytelling, and the extraordinary spirit of Oaxaca, I create experiences that invite people to slow down, reconnect with themselves, and courageously step into their next chapter.

This isn't about becoming someone new.

It's about coming home to who you've always been.

i believe that every life is a living work of art

For much of my life, I lived according to a blueprint I didn't realize I'd inherited.

Like many of us, I learned to work hard, be responsible, keep going, and put others first. I built a meaningful career in teaching, social services & right before my life flipped upside down; I worked in immigrant advocacy on the Western slope of Colorado during the second Trump Administration.

I poured my heart into serving community, and filled every spare moment afterwards with the things that made me feel most alive—creating mosaics, writing, and spending time with horses.

From the outside, life looked full.

Inside, I quietly felt disconnected from myself.

Then, in March 2026, everything changed.

While driving through the San Juan Mountains of southwest Colorado, I hit black ice and rolled nearly 200 feet down a mountainside.

In the moments before my truck went over the edge, I was certain I was about to die.

Miraculously, I survived.

The road back was long.

A broken scapula.

Three fractured ribs.

A punctured lung.

A severe concussion.

PTSD.

Months of physical and emotional recovery.

But what unfolded afterward became something I never expected.

Healing came through many teachers.

Mosaic art taught me that broken pieces can become extraordinary beauty.

Horses reminded me that presence is more powerful than performance.

Breathwork helped me return home to my body.

EMDR gave me the courage to meet old wounds with compassion.

And Oaxaca—a place that has long held my heart—became the landscape where I remembered joy, creativity, and the kind of life I wanted to build.

Looking back, I no longer see the accident as the defining moment of my story.

The defining moment was realizing I didn't want to return to the life I had before.

I wanted to create one that felt deeply aligned with who I truly am.

That realization became Tierra Azul Designs.

The heart of tierra azul

Whether we meet around a mosaic table...

In a keynote.

Beside horses.

Through breathwork.

Or beneath the vibrant skies of Oaxaca...

The invitation is always the same.

To pause.

To breathe.

To create.

To reconnect.

To remember.

Every Tierra Azul experience is thoughtfully designed to help people move

beyond survival and into a life of greater presence, courage, beauty, and belonging.

I don't believe transformation happens because someone gives us all the answers.

I believe it happens when we're given the space to listen to ourselves again.

why tierra azul?

Tierra Azul means Blue Earth

For me, it represents the meeting place between earth and sky.

Between grounding and possibility.

Between where we've been and where we're going.

It reminds me that healing is not something we force.

Like nature, it unfolds in its own time.

Every mosaic begins with broken pieces.

Every garden begins with a seed.

Every sunrise begins in darkness.

And every new chapter begins with a single courageous step.

an invitation

If you've found your way here, perhaps you're standing at the edge of your own new chapter.

Maybe you're navigating change.

Longing for more creativity.

Seeking rest.

Searching for purpose.

Or simply wanting to feel more like yourself again.

Whatever brings you here...

Welcome.

I'd be honored to walk alongside you through workshops, retreats, keynote experiences, or meaningful conversations that invite you to remember the light you've carried all along.

Because I believe the most beautiful mosaics are not created despite the broken pieces.

They're created because every piece belongs.

Connect with Tierra Azul Designs

We believe that every mosaic, and every person; is composed of unique fragments that tell a story.

We welcome you to reach out.

Whether you have a question about a piece, a custom request, or simply wish to share your own story of heartbreak, resilience, or enduring hope; we are here to listen. Your experiences are the very light we seek to piece together in our work.

Let's connect.

With love,
