Mending the Light; discovering beauty in the broken
Mosaic Art as a Metaphor for Life: Summer Workshop Series
Mending the Light & Honoring the Process
Join us this summer for unique, immersive mosaic workshops that goes far beyond cutting glass and tiling. These experiences are an invitation to step into the flow state, let go of the pressure of perfection, and explore how the physical act of mosaic artistry mirrors the journey of life itself.
In these workshops, we don’t look for flawless lines or rigid symmetry. Instead, we embrace the abstract, the jagged edges, and the unexpected shapes, learning to bring deep acceptance, grace, and compassion to both the canvas, ourselves and each other.
The Journey & The Intention
Navigating the Ups and Downs: Just as life is composed of light, dark, and shadows, a mosaic relies on the contrast of colors and textures to create depth. You will learn to work with all of these elements, recognizing that the shadows are just as vital to the final piece as the brightest light.
Finding Beauty in the Broken: We will work with fragmented materials, exploring the powerful metaphor of taking broken pieces and piecing them back together into a beautiful, resilient new whole.
Letting Go of Perfection: By creating abstractly, you will learn to release the rigid rules of "perfect" art. This workshop is designed to help you quiet the inner critic, flow with the mess, and trust the creative process.
What the Experience Looks Like
A Supportive, Soulful Space: We begin by setting an intention, creating a grounded environment where you can connect with your materials and your fellow creators.
Creative Flow State: Guided by the philosophy of flowing with whatever arises—the pieces, the light, the mess—you will be encouraged to create from an intuitive space rather than a place of strict planning.
Hands-On Crafting: You will work with a variety of materials (glass, tile, and found textures) to shape your unique piece, learning how to handle the jagged edges with care and curiosity.
A New Whole: You will leave not only with a beautiful, tangible reminder of your summer experience but with a renewed sense of compassion and love for your own journey.
“We must flow with the pieces, the light, the dark, the mess, and the jagged edges, bringing acceptance into the process and more grace to the journey.”
Who This Is For
Absolutely no prior art or mosaic experience is necessary. This workshop is for seekers, creators, and anyone who wants to slow down, practice intentional stillness, and discover the beauty of mending the light within a vibrant community.

new moon monthly mosaic workshops
The new moon is a time of quiet reflection, a fertile dark space where new intentions are born. It reminds us that even when the light seems hidden, a new cycle is beginning.
Join us at Mosaics in Montrose for an intentional, soul-centered studio experience. In this workshop, we will gather as a community to create, connect, and explore the deep metaphors of life through the art of mosaics. Life is beautifully messy, full of unexpected fractures and jagged edges. Together, we will step into a space where those broken pieces aren't something to fix, but the exact materials we use to piece together light in a broken world.
What This Studio Experience Holds for You:
An Intentional Gathering: We will gather with the energy of the new moon, setting personal intentions and creating a supportive, compassionate space to connect with fellow creators.
Embracing the Messy Flow: This is a judgment-free zone. By leaning into abstract creation, you will practice letting go of perfectionism and learning to flow with the mess, the dark, and the shadows.
Mending the Light: You will work with fragmented glass, tiles, and textures, experiencing the powerful physical and emotional process of taking separate, broken elements and transforming them into a resilient new whole.
Grace for the Journey: Guided by the philosophy of honoring the process over the final product, this workshop offers a space to practice self-compassion, finding deep peace and stillness amidst the creative chaos.
“This space is for people to connect, to create, and to discover that we can always find beauty through the broken messes.”
full moon mosaic series; creative expression in the presence of horse medicine
While the new moon is a time for planting seeds in the dark, the full moon is a time of illumination, peak energy, and celebration. It shines a brilliant light on everything we are, casting long shadows and revealing the full landscape of our journey.
Join us at the Metaphorse Healing Center for a transformative workshop series where the soulful art of mosaic creation meets the deep, grounding medicine of horses. Surrounded by the healing presence and intuitive wisdom of the herd, we will gather intentionally to work through life’s metaphors—the light, the dark, the ups, and the downs—and learn to piece together a beautiful new whole from the broken messes.
The Medicine of the Herd & The Art of the Mosaic
Horses live entirely in the present moment; they do not ask for perfection, only authenticity. In their presence, the pressure to "get it right" melts away. As you create your mosaic piece, the horses will serve as co-facilitators and anchors, helping you stay grounded in your body, connected to your intuition, and present to the flow state.
What This Sacred Space Offers:
Full Moon Illumination: We will harness the vibrant energy of the full moon to illuminate our inner strength, honoring both our brightest light and our deepest shadows.
Somatic Connection & Stillness: Before placing a single tile, we will connect with the healing energy of the land and the herd, allowing the horses' steady presence to calm our nervous systems and open our creative channels.
Releasing Perfectionism: Guided by the abstract flow, you will practice letting go of rigid expectations. Together, we will embrace the jagged edges, the mess, and the unexpected textures, bringing deep grace and love to the process.
Mending the Light: Working with fragmented materials, you will physically engage with the metaphor of transformation—finding the medicine in the brokenness and creating a resilient, radiant new whole to take home with you.
“Surrounded by the medicine of the herd and the light of the full moon, this space is an invitation to connect, to create, and to find beauty through the broken messes.”
