The Invitation

Welcome to Mending the Light—a 7-day (5 full days of programming) creative sanctuary designed specifically for the modern woman who is running on empty. This is not just a vacation; it is a conscious return to yourself. Together, through the tactile magic of Oaxacan artistry—from raw clay to natural dyes and broken mosaic glass—we will gather our fragmented energy and piece it back together into a beautiful, resilient new whole; together in connection.

step out of the rush & into the magic; reconnecting women to the earth, the arts, and the ancient soul of oaxaca

Oaxaca Reset: An Invitation to Return to Yourself

There comes a moment in a woman’s life when the world feels too loud, too fast, too heavy—when the pace you’ve been keeping no longer matches the rhythm of your soul. A moment when you sense a quiet truth rising inside you: something has to shift.

The Oaxaca Reset is an invitation into that shift.

It is a journey for women who feel themselves standing at a threshold—reflecting on where they’ve been, sensing a new chapter calling, and craving space to breathe, feel, and reconnect. It’s for those who know, deep down, that life is asking for a different kind of attention now. A slower one. A truer one.

We are living in a time of immense change. Systems are unraveling. The world feels uncertain. We are witnessing racism, oppression and cruelty actively alive. Technology pulls us in a thousand directions. And yet, beneath all of this, there is a quiet, ancient call to return—to the earth, to simplicity, to meaning, to the wisdom that lives in our bodies.

Oaxaca answers that call.

Here, Indigenous traditions honor the four elements, the land, the plants, the ancestors. Here, art is a living lineage. Food is prepared slowly, with devotion. Ritual is woven into daily life. Everything is touched by hand, shaped with intention, and infused with heart.

The Oaxaca Reset invites you into this way of being.

You’ll move gently each morning, breathe deeply, and reconnect with your body’s natural rhythms. You’ll sit in ceremony, open to new perspectives, and soften into presence. You’ll meet artisans whose crafts carry centuries of memory—woven, carved, shaped, and fired from the earth itself. You’ll taste food that feels like nourishment in every sense of the word.

This is a journey designed to help you step out of the noise and into a deeper, steadier way of living. A way that honors your energy. Your dreams. Your inner wisdom. Your connection to the earth.

If you feel the pull toward something more grounded, more soulful, more aligned with who you are becoming, the Oaxaca Reset is your invitation.

daily somatic movement and ceremonial ritual

Each morning begins in quiet reverence, as the sun rises over Oaxaca’s mountains and the air carries the scent of earth warming awake. In this soft light, Dasha Che guides you through gentle somatic movement and yoga—an invitation to return to your body with tenderness. Her practice is slow, intuitive, and deeply attuned to the land beneath you. Through breath, subtle movement, and grounding postures, you begin to feel your body as an instrument of listening.

These sessions are not about performance. They are about remembering—how to inhabit yourself fully, how to soften into presence, how to let the wisdom of your body speak.

Pamela Balderas leads you into ceremony. With offerings, intention, and ancestral ritual, she opens a space where you can drop beneath the noise of daily life and into the deeper currents of your being. Her ceremonies weave together Indigenous wisdom, earth‑based practices, and the subtle energies of Oaxaca itself. You feel held, witnessed, and gently guided into connection—with yourself, with each other, and with the spirit of this land.

Throughout the week, these morning practices become a rhythm, a heartbeat. They prepare you to receive the full depth of the artisan encounters that follow: the weavers whose hands echo the movements of their ancestors, the barro artisans shaping earth into form, the printmakers carving stories into wood, the mosaic artists teaching you how to transform brokenness into beauty.

The somatic work helps you stay open. The ceremonies help you stay rooted. Together, they create a container where every experience—every color, texture, story, and craft—lands not just in your mind, but in your body and spirit.

By the time you wander the markets, taste Oaxaca’s vibrant foods, or sit with artisans in their homes, you are not just observing. You are participating. You are receiving. You are remembering your own connection to land, lineage, and creation.

This is a journey shaped by movement, ritual, and artistry—an experience designed to help you feel deeply connected, grounded, and woven into the living energy of Oaxaca.

Where Ancient Hands Shape Living Culture

Your Earth-rooted journey into Oaxaca’s Ancestral arts opens in stillness, gathered around a warm cup of cacao prepared by a local Pame guide—an offering from the earth, carried through generations. As the cacao touches your lips, you feel the land speaking: slow down, soften, return. This ceremony becomes a threshold, inviting you into the ancient pulse of Oaxaca, where craft is prayer and creation is a way of remembering.

From this grounding, you travel to Teotitlán del Valle, a village where the loom is more than a tool—it is a keeper of stories. Here, the weavers work with wool dyed by cochineal, indigo, and marigold, colors born directly from the land. You sit with artisans whose hands move with the memory of their ancestors, weaving constellations, mountains, and myth into every thread. This is a living craft, not preserved in glass but breathing in the rhythm of daily life.

In the clay workshops, you meet barro artisans who shape earth into vessels with a tenderness that feels like ceremony. You press your palms into the cool clay and feel its grounding weight—an elemental reminder that creation begins with touch, patience, and reverence. The clay teaches you to listen.

Printmaking opens another doorway into Oaxaca’s creative lineage. Guided by local artists, you carve and ink your own piece, learning how prints have long carried stories of identity, resistance, and cultural memory. Each stroke becomes a conversation with the past.

Your journey culminates in a mosaic workshop, where broken fragments become a new whole. As you arrange each piece, you begin to see your own life reflected back—how the shattered, the imperfect, the once‑discarded can be re‑formed into something beautiful, intentional, and strong.

Throughout this experience, you meet artisans who live far from the tourist path—keepers of traditions that survive because they are practiced, not performed. These encounters are intimate, reciprocal, and rooted in respect. Every workshop supports families whose craft is their inheritance and their offering.

Between these moments of creation, you wander through bustling markets, taste Oaxaca’s vibrant culinary landscape, and feel the city’s ancient energy guiding you back to yourself. This is a journey designed to help you feel connected, grounded, and rooted in the earth—something Oaxaca’s wisdom does naturally, quietly, and profoundly.

weaving the threads of oaxaca with a shared vision

Our story began in 2017, when Amy led her very first mountain bike retreat through Womens Radical Pursuits in Oaxaca, Mexico and happened to host her group at one of Jude’s beautiful properties. This new collaboration is designed to take you off the beaten path and deep into local culture, rich artisan crafts, and the grounding energy of the earth. Together, our mission is to help you disconnect from the noise, return to your roots, and discover a beautifully balanced rhythm to life.
